Sam Heroy

Quantitative Fellow

Sam Heroy is a quantitative fellow in the Quantitative Supervision and Research group in the Supervision, Regulation and Credit department, and is based in the Charlotte, North Carolina, branch office. During the fellowship, Heroy will rotate on a quarterly basis across branches and teams within the System, beginning with the stress modeling team on pre-provision net revenue and then moving to another SMT role in wholesale credit risk. His research interests include economic networks, economic geography and computational social science.

Prior to joining the Richmond Fed, he worked as a data science consultant in the World Bank, and as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Oxford and also at University College London. He received his Ph.D. in applied mathematics at the University of North Carolina and bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Duke University. He also taught high school math in Nashville, Tennessee.
